Giving Thanks with Teller and Banker Appreciation Weeks

What started as a fun idea has become an annual Texas Citizens Bank tradition
More Bank Holidays?
While many industries roll their eyes at the number of holidays banks observe, we believed it was not enough.
Six years ago, Texas Citizens Bank SVP Glori Loxterman, felt something was missing from the annual holiday calendar. Celebrating just the “bank holidays” wasn’t quite cutting it. Sure, the bank closed its doors for eleven Federal holidays, but not one of those days was dedicated specifically to bank employees.
Employee Appreciation Weeks
So, we took matters into our own hands. Every year, we set aside two weeks—one for our tellers, and one for our personal bankers. We call these honorary days “Teller and Banker Appreciation Weeks.”
“We wanted to show appreciation for our frontline people. Without them, the bank wouldn’t function,” said Kellie Grigar, senior vice president and banking center manager at Texas Citizens Bank.
“Crafting for a Cause”
As a proud Rosenberg, Texas, branch manager with several years of experience leading and building up bank locations, Kellie Grigar enthusiastically volunteers to help plan, purchase, and coordinate delivery of these gifts every year.
“It’s important to me that our tellers and personal bankers realize how essential their role is at our bank. I already enjoy crafting in my spare time, so thinking up gift ideas with fun wordplays is right up my alley. I’m basically just crafting for a cause,” said Grigar with a smile.
The Five Days of Appreciation
This week, all six Texas Citizens Bank locations celebrated “Banker Appreciation Week.” Every day, personal bankers received two or three small gifts. Like Secret Santa elves, bank managers drop off the gifts for the day on each personal banker’s desk.
This year’s gifts vary from personalized Starbucks-style travel mugs to restaurant gift cards to a jar of donuts labeled: “Thank you! We ‘donut’ know what we would do without you.”
Thank you, TCB Team!
“It’s really true!” said Grigar, remembering the donut pun note. “We would not be where we are without our wonderful banking center staff! They truly are the face of our company. They are the people our customers see most. These appreciation weeks are just our small way of recognizing their daily service to our growing bank.”
In conclusion, remember to thank your teller or banker! Above all else, they look for ways to make your day a little brighter!
